The third book in the successful Hej. Skandi-chic series by Anja Rohloff is all about sewing with warmer, thicker fabrics – and it comes with a whole stack of patterns to match.
This book was kindly provided to me free of charge by EMF-Verlag.

I love sewing with knit fabrics and often fall for the designs – but I’ll admit the actual sewing doesn’t always go smoothly. With thinner or very stretchy fabrics especially, my overlocker and I aren’t always the best of friends.
So this book landed at exactly the right moment. It’s full of clever construction tips as well as plenty of patterns – and, of course, not only for knits.

What’s inside “Hej. Skandi-chic – Super cosy”
Like the other books in the series, it’s split into a basics section and a projects section.
Unlike my usual way of reading sewing books, this time it was the basics section that really drew me in. A few of the little construction tricks – like the neat stabilising strip the author calls the “Streberstreifen” – I was able to try out straight away on my new Ruby dress by Fibremood.

All the patterns come in sizes 34–44 (EU) across six full-size pattern sheets. The book includes:
- Long-sleeve top
- Pleated skirt
- Sweater
- Hoodie
- Vest
- Three dresses
- Leggings
- Top
- Blouse-style shirt
- Knitted jumper
- Shacket
- Parka
- Accessories
The instructions for each project are wonderfully detailed, and the step-by-step photos make them easy to follow even for beginners. The parka in particular really won me over – once I find enough time for it, I’ll definitely give it a go.

My verdict
A really lovely book, full of inspiring projects. Winter is prime sewing season for me, so I’m especially happy to have a book devoted to exactly that.

The book: Hej. Skandi-chic Super cosy – Kleidung nähen für kältere Tage by Anja Rohloff (a German-language book), published in 2022 by EMF-Verlag – 127 pages, 17 patterns, RRP €26.00.
